The RGV Red Crowns fall to the San Antonio Corinthians in second home game

The RGV Red Crowns kicked off their 2025 season on the road with a tough loss to the San Antonio Corinthians. But today was all about the rematch — and the Red Crowns came in hungry for payback.

They were chasing their second straight win, and what better way to get it than against the top team in the Texas Conference?

Things got going in the 23rd minute when San Antonio whipped in a cross that found Daniel Sartorio, who buried a header to put the Corinthians up 1-0. But the Red Crowns responded quickly. Just two minutes later, Vicente Alvarez was taken down by the keeper in the box, and the ref pointed straight to the spot. Zach Hargreaves stepped up and calmly slotted it home to tie things up, 1-1.

Before the half was over, the Corinthians were pressing again, but Juan Carlos Alvarez got a crucial deflection to break up the play — and that led to a dangerous counter for RGV. Emmanuel Alvarez got a good look, but his shot went just wide left.

The Red Crowns had a few chances in the second half to take the lead, but they couldn’t find the back of the net again. In the end, San Antonio came out on top, handing RGV a narrow 2-1 loss.
